![]() ![]() I'm 2 for 2 with this bag and never had anything like this sort of problem with any other suitcase I own, including some 30 bags from Job Lot. I can't use a suitcase that I cannot trust will safely and securely hold my stuff every time. Went on another non-stop flight to Portland, and nearly lost my belongings in the front pocket when the same thing happened. Brought it back and the retailer exchanged it for the identical bag. I bought a large suiter in October, took one trip, and the zipper on the front pocket broke open. I mostly use zip ties for checked luggage now. TSA has also clipped some of my zipper pulls despite using TSA locks. I actually did have zippers fail (be torn out of the material) but it was on a canvas/leather bag after years of use. I'd rather be without the zipper pull in the middle of a three week trip than without the zipper and missing some of the bag's contents. More extensive and costly repairs might be necessary because if the textile that the zipper attaches to is torn, too, one must change that, too. Essential functionality will be lost, not just comfortable opening and closing. If the entire zipper is ripped out, it's a catastrophic failure, so to speak. ![]() You can also fab something up in the meantime to restore comfortable pulling. If you loose just the zipper pull all you have is a loss of comfort. TP's solution is to prefer a common and easily rectifiable small accident to a catastrophic accident.ĥ. There might be more ways than one to skin a cat.ģ. Not all people and companies are equally intelligent.Ģ. Others might not have adopted the solution because they were not intelligent enough to see it. I feel like I explained it twice already.ġ. If it's such an intelligent solution, why don't any of the other major luggage brands do this? They appear to make good quality product (I have never owned any though). However, if my zipper did fail on my current bag (Eagle Creek Tarmac 22), they would fix it for free. I've never had a zipper fail in all my years of traveling. ![]() I prefer my zipper pulls to not fall off (although I've had them cut off on several occasions by TSA, even though I had TSA locks on them). A free zipper pull doesn't do me any good when I'm on a 3 week trip in SE Asia. TillPerhaps higher quality zippers would be a better solution. And if someone doesn't like it, take a pair of pliers and squeeze the crown down. Moreover, it is preferable to have the zipper pull being gone than the entire zipper ripped out spilling the guts of your bag all over the place, as I said above.Īn intelligent solution, dealt with in an intelligent way. ![]()
